Greetings from SW Scotland

Hi there

My name is Anthony, and with my partner, Joseph, and our 2 greyhounds, Paddy & Zak, I moved up from Yorkshire to the Galloway Machars (close to Wigtown / Newton Stewart) in September last year. We have taken on a quarter acre plot, surrounded by open countryside, which we have transformed quite remarkably in a short time, while also renovating the house to run as a small guesthouse.

We've both been keen gardeners for years, but now have a plot big enough to really go to town with, and are trying our hands at vegetable and fruit growing for the first time and enjopyiong having a small greenhouse to potter in.

Lookign forward to getting to know other keen gardeners and swapping ideas, joys - and problems!!!

Thanks for the welcome guys! Nice to see a few others form this part of the world. And yes, this is Wickerman country... and also used for BBCs '2000 Acres of Sky'. Really lovely countryside and coastlines with hardly any people; how much nearer heaven can you get!?! We've also got surprising number of landscaped gardens open to the public, with a really mild micro-climate (thanks to the Gulf Stream) which means there's plenty of tropcal plants to be seen amongst the heather, gorse and rhododendrons!
