    Hi folks

Just to introduce myself. Although I have spent most of my life in the South East, I am now living in (mostly) cold and wet Lancashire, so I am on a learning curve regarding gardening! I have just taken on an allotment with my husband, who does the heavy work, bless him, and I am a keen composter - even went on a workshop about it!
Just one question at the moment - is there anything I can sow on the plot once I have dug up the new potatoes?
Looking forward to joining you all on this site.
    Ostara

Hi Ostara and welcome to GC. I would imagine you could sow anything on the plot after the new potatoes are out. You must be very interested if you went to a workshop for composting. Looking forward to seeing you around.

Hi Ostara and welcome. Last year I put in spring cabbage, kale and spinach after the spuds were out and we are still eating them now.

Hi, Ostara! Welcome to GC! :D

My understanding is that you can grow anything after potatoes - they're supposed to leach the soil and get it ready for other things. I know most people who have talked to me about veg growing have used potatoes to get started on soil where it has previously been used for lawn or a flower bed.

I lived in the NW for a while, then went south for a while, and now am a lot further north still! There is life in the north! ;)
