With camera kit you need to make sure you get a worldwide warranty, I know when I buy stuff in HongKong its cheaper but oftern has China-only warranty. Not that Ive ever had to claim, but its worth checking.

My new camera, bought just before Christmas is "grey" AND..it's my second grey camera and I will always buy this way from now on.

Yes, you do lose out on a warranty but I balance it thus. If I look after the camera then there should not be a problem as todays cameras are well built and follow close/strict quality control guidlines. Add to this that I got a Canon which has a damn good rep for build quality.

Being on my second "grey" camera, if something does go wrong and I need to get it repaired, I will still be in pocket on the huge ammount of money I have saved overall.

As for the money saved thus far, if I needed to replace this camera with a brand new one...I would just about break even. If I add that to money saved on the rest of my kit, it runs well over a thousand pounds.

My manual is in english as are all the markings on the camera itself, both on the exterior and its internal menus

And my new camera came from ProCamera shop too.

      Steve...:)

I agree with Steve, Woo. The grey market is not be approved by the manufacturers because they can't control the higher price that the regular approved distribution chain dictates. A grey sourced camera is identical, like Steve says, and still a new camera built to same high standards of the manufacturer, the only difference is that it has gone down a different, manufacturer unauthorised, distribution route.
I must admit I bought my Pentax K5 via an authorised dealer but only after I managed to spot a really good "bundle" deal. Let's face it some the prices demanded for cameras are so high as to be a deterrent and basically are unjustifiable despite the marketing blurb.:coffee:

If there's manufacturer's cashback to be had (not paid on grey imports) and/or some other discounts, plus the likes of further Quidco/Topcashback/etc. cashback, then you might be close to getting something from an official UK supplier for the same price.

What item are you after? (as there's been some good Canon cashback deals around recently)

I,m still looking at the Cannon SX50 priced at £449 at Argos averaging about £360-£390 but at procamerashop £283:)

It was £334 - £50 manufacturers' cashback (also as posted below) so only £284 at Jessops only a short while ago, and possibly also with further Quidco/Topcashback money back http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/canon-powershot-sx50-digital-camera-334-jessops-1380443

Applogies to WOO, but is this why Jessops went bust - because some people would rather buy a grey import online to save £1?

WOO - If you're considering buying Canon equipment, I hope you're taking account of the Canon Winter Cashback offer when choosing where to buy from

No need for apologies Scrungee my friend you are probably right, but I still have freedom of choice, and defend my right to find the cheapest purchase:paladin:
I wouldn't pay £16 for a David Austin Rose when I could purchase the same Rose for £8.50p somewhere else, which I frequently do,and if David Austin went into liquidation you could hardly blame for that or would you:heehee::)

Hi Scrungee It usually takes me about 2 -3 months of thinking about the deals, reviews, prices and offer's so thank you for your trusted and valuable input they are really appreciated have listened to what you have mentioned and will take it on board before I make my final decision.
                      :ThankYou:

I tend to work in a different way and keep the prices of stuff like cameras/laptops/household appliances/etc. that I might need continually under review for good deals so I'm ready to take advantage of a good deal as soon as one appears, rather than wait a few months and possibly end up paying a lot more.
