I have both environmental concerns about water usage, but I am also on a water meter, so I have financial concerns too.

I am considering using grey water to water fruit, veg and the flower borders.

Not bath water but just grey water from the kitchen. Water used to wash veg, cook veg, wash hands, rinse a few pots.

Good idea? Anything I should consider?

    Thanks again!

Yes, indeed a good idea - kitchen water is fine - even washing up water as long as you let it cool first. You could also use bath / shower water so long as there is not loads of bubble-bath/shower-gel in it, again let it cool first. I would suggest best used on plants growing in the soil rather than pots/ containers. Don't use any water that has had bleach or disinfectant in it. Also don't use grey water on ericaceous subjects like camellias, heathers and the like, just use saved rainwater on these.

Thanks. What about bits in the water, food etc, will it attract vermin.

Really want a water butt but I have no down pipe where I can position one. At the min, the garden is littered with plastic tubs.

When we use grey water like that we pour it through a kitchen sieve first, if there are any food bits in it. They would attract unwanteds to your area.
