    Hi,

I'm looking for a recommendation for a plant/few plants to cover soil in borders & prevent/minimize weed.

The borders in question get sun from spring to autumn but a small part of them only gets sun for about 6 weeks at the height of summer.

The borders were full of daffodils in the March/April but now are very weedy while I wait for the stems to turn brown. I've begun clearing them and am looking for plants which will grow quickly to cover the soil but look nice all year round and preferably bloom with flowers for as long as possible from spring to autumn. We'll be relandscaping the garden in a few years so don't want to spend much - just want it to look nice between now and then.

I'm cautious of self seeding plants such as forget me nots as they've grown wild before and began to look overgrown and untidy.

Please help me find a suitable plant or few plants (in which case please recommend a planting lay out) which will look nice, be cheap and be low maintenance. I don't mind some elbow work to prepare the soil and give them a good start.

    Thanks in advance,

    Carolyn
