I've been digging my veg bed today in preparation for planting onions and garlic.

To my horror the ground seems to have what looks like ground elder roots.

It was only over one side last year, but even though there was sign of it on the side I was working today last year, it seems to have spread underground through the winter! Is this possible? I had dug out all of it from the other side last year, and any odd leaves got glysophated, it wasn't a problem all year.

I presume glysophate won't work on roots... so what can I do?

Do I have to remove every scrap by hand? :cry3:

Afraid so Vicky, unless you wait for it to grow & then spray it.

reckon you will find Glyphosate effective - only it is in leaf. We had heavy infestation in a previous garden and completely ridded it of Ground Elder over a couple of seasons by carefully applying Glyphosate.
