    Hello all.
I was shopping for some new planters and chip bark when i saw in the sale a 4 shelved grow rack with fittings and pegs to weigh it down and the weatherproof cover down to 14.99! Would this be good for my small potted plants come winter to protect from frost? And also is there any flowering plants i could grow in there for summer? Location would be in full sun until around 3pm when it goes round the side.
    Thanks

If this is the sort of thing you mean phalnoob, many members here have given up on them because wind tends to destroy them very easily. Known to many as 'blowaways'. The zips tend to tear away very quickly too.

These are all I have at the moment and they have been fine so far.
I have a 4 tier one, a bigger "walk in" one (4'8" wide x 2'4" deep x 6'4" high) and one of the tomato/growbag ones. Mine all have the reinforced covers on them rather than the clear pvc, and I have fleece covers for the 4 tier and "walk in" too.
Over winter here in sunny Scotland, I had my 4 tier and "walk in" growhouses in an area where they were sheltered from the wind. It's a space behind my concrete coal bunker so the wind couldn't blow in from the bottom of the growhouses.
I put in some posts and a rail between them, and put up some brushwood screening to give them a bit more shelter, then tied them both securely to the posts/rail with that blue polypropylene rope. They were basically jammed in between the coal bunker and the boundary fence, sheltered as much as possible from the wind and tied down so securely that they didn't move at all during the worst of the winter gales we had.
I've just bought another one which is twice the size of the "walk in" growhouse I already have. This one is 4'8" wide x 4'8"deep x 6'8"high and is a temporary growhouse until I have saved up for a proper greenhouse.
I'll be puting in a section of post & rail to secure this one to. My garden isn't very big so these work well for now.
I even started off some plants from seed in my "walk in" growhouse in April, using a short pillar candle and terracotta pot heater. That worked well but the fleece cover I had on under the pvc one did get a bit sooty. You just have to remember to open the zip during the day in colder weather to let air in and prevent condensation, otherwise the plants get cooked. I leave the front open completely now that there's no risk of frost. :)

They are a bit small for some of us and you could probably make something far sturdier. I have never liked them but to be honest I did not really ever have one of my own.

I have one pf these but decided to upgrade to a greenhouse as we got on with sorting the garden. Mine tore where the zip joins the plastic but that is because I was naughty and just pulled the panel at the front up instead of actually unzipping it. I just put some bull dog clips on it and it worked fine.
