Growin leeks,tips required.

    Hello everyone Bob flemming here,Ive just planted some leeks in my patch they are about 8 inches long so far,anyone got any growing tips?as i understand they are very slow growers,and somebody mentioned to me about howing the soil up around the leek,What does this do?any tips very welcome,cheers Bob flem:thumb:

    What you would normally do, Bob, is dig a hole about 6" deep and drop the leek into it. This will, obviously, blanch the lower part of the leek. Which is what you want. Earthing them up will do the same thing, but you need to be careful not to snap them. I think whoever advised you was confusing leeks with celery.
