As my wife loves Goji berries and they are so expensive to buy I thought about getting a couple of bushes but would they grow in a large tub/pot.Also could I grow a gooseberry plant in a large tub/pot

Should be fine just make sure the drainage is good and place them in full sun. My goji was put in the ground in semi shade great growth no flowers. Nowhere to move it to so no berries for me.
Cuttings are very easy to root btw.
