I have loads of shoots in my compost, dont know if they are maybe potato shoots, they look like bean sprouts. Should i not be composting potato peelings etc, sometimes a bigger bit of potato might be rotten and go in. I never put any rogue potatoes in out of the veg garden. I have been pulling them off the top of the compost, so not sure what to do, that bin is really quite well rotten. I was hoping to use it soon.

I have heard not to put any potato peelings in a compost heap because of the risk of deseise eg blight eventhough the peelings might look ok

I quite regularly harvest a small crop of spuds from the compost heap no problem. Now I just have composters, I'll let you know what happens!
