    :nonofinger:

Have been taking Oz for many a walk during Autumnal weather and no issues.

Today, needing (for my reflective self) to take a longer, less explored route - he revelled in rolling, sniffing, rolling, tongue lolling, rolling, smiling, blissful happiness-ness-ness-ness of a new to him area. Pure joy to see him being a dog (as opposed to an obedient pouch!) doing what comes naturally. It was totally enchanting!

Until ... we got home

His double coat is covered (and I do mean covered!) in stuck hard BURRS!

    GRR!!!!

I've tried combing him, but, he yelps when I catch one of them: *wibble* :cry3: (cor, it must hurt!) and retreats to a corner where I can't, easily, access him (and, if I try, he slinks of elsewhere!)

It's actually hurting *me* to realise my grooming is hurting *him*. I know he needs it; *he* knows he needs it ...

... any advice to make it less painful for the pair of us? :dunno:

    Thank you.

My dogs get them too and I sometimes find that the only thing to do is to bath them. If it is just one or two try putting a little cooking oil on the burr. It should slide off much more easily with your fingers or a comb/brush. :)

Meg gets them as she spends most of her outdoor time in the undergrowth. She has a very soft coat so I suspect they come out easier than with Ozzy's . How about a spray or leave in conditioner applied to the roots and around the burr?

Bathing isn't an option (sadly!) He weighs 54 kilos now and I am simply *not* up to putting him into a bath. (well, in mind I am, but .... I dread to think of my back!)

Conditioner/oil may be an option: I'll give that a try. Thank you :)

burrs are a nuisance! Snoop our Bichon picks them up regularly when his coat is long (like now) and we go for walks in the forest, im afraid i have given up trying to tease them out and now just cut them right out with the scissors:oopss: when i get it right you'd never know any hair was missing but when i get it wrong.....well then Snoop looks very odd indeed :sofa:
