have you ever done any "guerrilla gardening"?

Not maybe in any revolutionary sense of the expression (espression that it is not really funny) by digging in the night some public spaces and sowing in there, but maybe in a milder way like trowing some seeds balls on public spaces. Any outcome?

If you look around you, also in a town, there are so many green spaces that are not in use!

Not done it yet but often considered it. There are loads of grass verges where the grass is struggling because of a combination of tree roots and neglect. I happen to know there are many species of flowers and herbs that would be content in that environment.

Also, round my way, a lot of the roads and pavements don't get cleaned often enough since the council cuts, and consequently weeds are growing in the pavements. I thought I might introduce some prettier plants, but haven't got round to it/plucked up the courage.

If growing trees from seed and putting them around my neighbourhood and town counts, then I do guerrilla gardening. I like the idea of throwing flower seed over an abandoned area, might be an idea for all those seeds that I never get a chance to sow!

Back in the days when common sense prevailed, idiocy was almost unheard of, and turf wars with any council that might have existed just didn't occur... planting plants in public would have been approved and even applauded, alas now the council sees it as their territory and these council men are like dogs peeing on the side of the tree in some cases. If David Cameron wants us to take control of our services etc, well surely he can leave the public planting to the general public too.

Why don't councils understand that by leaving planting to the residents who care more than they do, they will not have to spend any money on plant buying and keeping it tidy.. because there are people who love gardening who will willingly do it for free.

      Common sense!

Some of the parks and gardens in our area are in a very neglected state and I'd be happy to volunteer my time to help keep them nice. Hmmmmmmmmm, I might contact the local Parks Department or whatever they call themselves these days to suggest it. As for guerilla gardening, I think it's a great idea but shouldn't be necessary.

When I had the dogs , I used to collect acorns and plant them in the hedgerows as I walked along , done the same with hazel and conkers .

I must of planted hundreds over the years and I know some of them are doing really well .
