I've bought a pair of trainers. Training shoes that is. Its the first pair I've owned for well over 5 years. I must have hit my mid life crisis, because the purpose of these shiney new trainers is to get fit, which is something I never used to have to think about. Once upon a time, being fit was just something that happened to me without thinking. Now I have to make a conscious effort:help:

:heehee::heehee::heehee: You've probably have been in need of them for some time, Clueless, and only just got around to realising it.:heehee::D I find them very good for training me to amble around the garden, taking a walk to put the kettle on, endless things!!:heehee::D

There was a lovely old chap in the village, he'd been held as a prisoner of war in Germany, been thru a lot.

He hated Joggers, he was of the opinion that if you have the energy to do that after work, you've not given your boss a fair days work.

He used to trip joggers up with his walking stick so he could tell them off, even had a go at my Dad for wearing trainers once.

"You not been jogging ave e?"

I remember many years ago visiting a friend of ours with teenage children (now they are grown with children of their own) and was shown the new decoration in the house and we went nto the then teenage boy's bedroom and I also gagged and asked my friend what the smell was ... and she said it was her son's trainers ... :rolleyespink:

My t'other half bought his first pair after we retired ... not just one pair but he must have four pairs or more in different colours and I wish he hadn't ... I have never smelled anything so foul in my life ... and I have these sprays to puff into such shoes. I ban them from the bedroom and they have to be in the guest room where his computer is so he can enjoy them all on his own! Fortunately we don't have visitors staying with us. :love30:

Bicarb of soda. Sprinkle some in and swish it round and let it sit over night and then dump the excess. Works brilliantly. I wear trainers all the time. They are the most comfy shoes if you work on your feet all day. I must have 6 pairs in various states from new not worn yet to knackered work in the garden ones. None of them stink.

I bought some trainers, but when I got them home out of the box one was a lace up and the other was Velcro
I took them back, but they would not change them, I insisted
but he just pointed at the box and it clearley stated

Val and Catz ... what, you think I am going to buy charcoal insoles (from heaven knows where here) or put my precious bicarb (which I use for my stomach upsets possibly from the trainers) in his shoes? He certainly is not going to do such and, as I said, I have provided speciality spray thingamejigs for him to use which seem like a novelty and I have to do that for him ...:eeew::gaagh:

PS Me'thinks the Christmas critters need to go into their boxes till December this year ... :yess:

Trainers do get a bit stinky. That's probably the main reason I went so long without owning a pair. For general knocking about, I feel much more comfortable in proper shoes. In the garden/on the land, I have my DM Steelies.

The trainers are step 2 in my endeavour to reclaim my life. Step 1 was to quit smoking. I've been smoke free since October last year, and nicotine patch free for a week now, so I think I've cracked that one. The trouble is, I've piled on the pounds since quitting. So now I'm going to have to shake some of those pounds off. Lucky for me I have a mate who is a fitness freak and has all the gear in his garage. He also has an uncanny ability to find my rarely seen competitive side, so I guess that makes him a good PT instructor:) My shiney new trainers will be worn out and stinking in no time once I get into some sort of guided training regime.

wear 100% cotton socks, and once you start training daily,... sweating the toxins out daily , and drinking loads of water, eating balanced and healthy .... your trainers won't stink ...

and, if you want really good trainers for cheap, look at ebay for the army surplus PT 03 trainers .... these cost approx £20 ... are grade 1 (that means that they were issued .... after a day or 2, the recruit exchanged them for a larger or smaller pair) .... if you buy them off the high street, you will pay more than £80 .... these are by far the most durable trainers that I have ever owned, and very comfortable .... I also have a pair for gardening

Well I've done it now. I've spoken to my fitness freak mate, and committed to a weekly training program. On wednesday, I will be packing my shiney new trainers along with some other gym gear into a bag which will come to work with me, then after work, before I even go home for my tea, I will be visiting my mate's gym garage for an hour or so of pain.

I couldn't last going to the gym, I'd find it painfully boring. Football for 3 hours > Gym for 3 hours
