Gunnera

    I got a gunnera for 3 and a half quid today at Booty,it looks fantastic but how do i look after it..........What does it like??????????? where do i plant it??? will it survive in a pot????.........................................HELP

    Call it an impulse buy:eek:

    Hi mate.The gunnera is a bog plant.Mine grew well in the groung but you have to keep it moist all the time mate.I feed mne on chicken pellets.Thay grow well in tubs [also easyer to keep wet].Here is a pic of mine i have just replanted it near the water and boy is it growing....daz

    I dare say it would like a boggy soil, or at least a fairly moist one. A pot? Poor monster! At least make it a very big pot! Chritopher Lloyd recomends to fold the dead leaves over the centre of the plant in winter to protect the new shoots. Good luck. I wd love a gunnera in my garden. I even have a bog!

    They are certainly much too big for a pot :)

    They are certainly much too big for a pot
    yours is Whisey but in a large pot they will adapt quite sucessfully obviously the bigger the pot the better you would need a very big pot to get two people in as well:D
