    Hi All
New to this forum and am trying to get back into gardening. Not done it for many years but I noticed this summer there is now a huge number of hanging baskets where we currently live. Similarly this winter i have noticed many of the summer baskest being replaced with winter ones.

The last basket i made was about 20 years ago and had planned to do the same this next summer. Forgive my ignorance but do people still make their own baskets or are they typically bought pre-planted?

    Thanks i advance

    Peter

Welcome to GC Peter:dbgrtmb: I think with the prices of ready made up baskets these days majority of folk plant up their own especially here on Gardeners corner and many grow the plants from seed too.Have a good browse around ,there's lots of great advice and planting ideas:dbgrtmb: You'll soon get bitten by the bug again.Enjoy:thumbsup:

Plant your own Peter and save some money . Plenty of how-to's on the internet.
Lots of nurseries and garden centres sell a ready made up selection of 6 plants for about a £5 to make up your own basket.
Below are some ideas of plants for baskets . if you have a basket in a shadey spot you can't beat trailing Begonias and Fuschias , both are fairly cheap and easy to grow.

Most of the ready planted ones I have seen around here tend to have too much in them, there is no 'theme' just crammed to capacity with plants and keeping them watered is a nightmare, def. plant your own!!

I've looked back and found this thread that some of us added to last Summer.
Made me a bit wistful... ah Summer Days,
hope you find on or two in there to whet your appetite for 2015,
