Does anybody know where I can buy reasonably priced 12inch plastic coated wire hanging baskets? I'm going to need about one hundred (for a local event this summer), and at price of around £1.50 each it's going to work a bit expensive. Appreciate any help. Thanks and a Happy New Year to you all, Leucojum

Leucojum, pay a visit to your nearest, independent, garden centre, tell them what you need and why, and ask them if they will let you have them at cost or trade. Tell them you will put up a sign saying where the baskets came from. The worst that will happen is that they will say no.

I wish I could help here but I get mine trade and there is usually a minimum order or min cost and these are prohibitive unless you are a company or where I work, a Parks Dept. Try the smaller GC's as Dai says or later when they come in, Wilkinsons's.

Thanks Trevor, but already tried them, the best they can do is £1.23 each. Same with GC's they don't reckon 100 warrants a discount. I'll keep looking and popping into Wilkos. Leucojum

Leucojum I managed to get quite a few at 50p each from B&Q just before christmas when they were having a garden clearance but they didn't have anywhere near 100!

If it's a local event could your local council help you out do you think? Or maybe you could get a sponsorship to help you out with the costs or is it not that kind of event?

Helofadigger a lot of people have told me that Tesco B&Q Wilkinsons where selling hanging baskets for 50 to 60p at the end of the season last year. I didnt know at the time I would need them. Aint that the way life is? Good idea about the council, its a local event, so they might do something, I'll give them a call. Failing that its going to cost a fortune. Leucojum
