I'm going to be the wet blanket and say I don't go in for these contrived 'celebration' days. My son does send me a card and I've just managed after all these years to stop him getting me a pressie. I do know he loves me and appreciates me every day of the year, not just today. And if he didn't, I wouldn't want a token day once a year to pretend he did (sorry)

It was a servant day off to visit their mother/ church during lent, I think.
Being one of life's servants, any servant day off is worth upkeeping to me. I agree about the commercialisation of it though, it has overtaken the spirit of the day. I just like to get together and share a meal, with grandparents and kids.
Happy Mother's Day to all Mums

The few pounds worth of daff bulbs I planted at my plot over 10 years ago have paid for themselves many times over, 5 dozen for Mrs Scrungee (had to cut them myself this year with daughter away at uni)

Three dozen for her mother (and about 4 dozen left to pick)

I've finally persuaded my Son to stop bringing me a bunch of flowers, I have always disliked cut flowers, don't know why? My Mum always used to say, "I know you love me you don't need to keep putting your hand in your pocket!!"
