Used to grow many of those and found them all easy and hardy.
hardy ones are designated H3 on lists in catalogues.
Also F. magellanica and F. M. alba are both hardy (evergreen here too).

Hardy , depending on what neck of the woods you live @Spruce and what height and colours you are looking for ?

The main ones we keep going in the ground are -

Mrs. Popple typically up to 3-4ft even in full shade, very hardy, masses of flowers.

Lady Boothby up to 8ft semi shade and been hardy for the last few years.

Garden News up to 2ft, bright coloured double, seems to be more semi trailing at times,

I have Genii and low-growing Sunray here, both completely hardy. Also Fuchsia microphylla which is meant to be frost-tender, but that is the one which is still happily growing and flowering away in the border right now, while the other two have dropped their leaves. I did take some cuttings for safety though!

In the past I also grew Mrs Popple and Hawkshead and a magellanica variegata tricolor, but lost those to fuchsia gall mite, a nasty pest which is a growing problem in the South of England. I tried cutting the affected bits out and pruning back hard in winter, but it proved impossible to get rid of, so in the end I just had to take those ones out - the magellanica varieties are said to be especially susceptible to the mite.

I wanted the taller variety I used to grow Dr Foster , so I will see if I can get hold off that. Colours anything with white in as the border will be shaded help show it off better. Just want a shot of colour as the base of the border I have hosta and ferns
