Here's a picture of a new addition to my family. A Hardy Paw Paw, grown in Glasgow.

I dont actually expect to harvest paw paws but does anyone know if these will survive the temperatures up here in the longterm? If planted outside in a couple of years.

Mine actually fruited last year, I think it stands a good chance outside up there in Glasgow. Where it originates in the US can get cold winters.
It seems to like shade for a few years but as it ages it stands sunshine much better.

and this is the strange fruit, it was quite small and very sweet.
Unfortunately I didn't pollenate it this year so no fruit, I have two plants and cross pollenation seems necessary to produce fruit.

I find it slow, might be quicker if kept in a greenhouse, but I guess mine were about 18ins after 3 yrs.

from the photograph it looks like fruit I used to eat when I lived in Kenya. Did not know it was called a hardy paw-paw though.
