I've just driven home over the mountain and had to stop for a hare sitting in the middle of the road. Another two hundred yards on and I came across another one that dashed out, both were in their white winter overcoats. :) Like rabbits they have an annoying habit of criss crossing down the road in front of the car and it takes ages to get passed them.

Lovely to think that they're not being hunted! We have families of partridge living in the woods on either side of our lane. It's a given that we drive verrry slowly preceded by up to 12 partridge all running as fast as their little legs will go until they twig and fly off into the fields....

I'm just picturing all those little legs Noisette. :) I think pheasants are the worst on the road, they tend to change their mind at the last minute about which way they are going to go, then sadly they meet their demise.

True..the only living creature I've ever hit with a car was a black pheasant....the silly **** flew straight in front when I was giving it some wellie. At least he didn't suffer:hate-shocked:

Back in the dark ages....the late '70's, :) I hit a pheasant that was making a dash across a dual carriageway, unfortunately I couldn't move lanes to avoid it and all I saw were feathers. It also did £300 of damage to the front of my car which was a lot of money then.
