(Other countires national flag could also apply to this conversation!)

Football world cup in 2 weeks, do we have any football loving, patriotic gardeners out there who have made a St Georges flag bed...

I have not made one myself...but did think about it a couple of weeks ago. Just found this photo on the web here and wondered if anyone had done it.

    Steve...:)

Well...Each to their own. I've been a life-long Chelsea supporter, but I'm sick to death with all the hype about the World Cup already.
When I think of the general standard of the quality of BBC television and what they will spending on The World Cup which is also being covered by ITV....

    No flags here....

No - didn't seem much point just for 23rd April!

And on the subject of football, can anyone explain to a mere woman why, like a DFS sale, one season ends only two weeks before the next starts? Didn't we used to have a decent interval between the two when we could enjoy something else for a change - cricket and tennis for example?

Manchester Corporation recently banned the binmen from displaying England flags on their wagons. This decision brought them a lot of adverse publicity and has since been "binned."

I think it`s ridiculous that the English be banned from displaying the Cross of St George because it may upset other nationalities. I`d certainly fly it if I were English and living in England. Be proud of your nation for goodness sake.:gnthb::old:

A neighbour, who always does an excellent display of bedding plants in summer, has built a raised bed, in wood and planted it up as the George Cross, using white alyssum and red begonias. It already looks very effective, so I'm sue it will look just right in time for the first match...whenever that is...

As a Scot I have absolutely no objection to the English flying the flag of St George.
Why not, be proud and go for it !
As a woman - well football ! Just looks like 11 juvenile males kicking a ball about !
I certainly wouldn't plant my garden for any football flag !
