I'm looking around here thinking that the trees have turned much earlier than in recent years, normally we get a show of colour in mid to late October, but this year it's coloured up much earlier and not only that, the coloured leaves are falling off already.
Seen some trees pretty much bare already.

I've noticed even oaks that tend to be one of the last to colour up are going that way already, even though they are still dropping, what seems to be, an exceptional amount of acorns.

    Anyone else seeing similar?

I'd agree with this. Ok I live in Scotland so our weather is a bit different to Kent but I think Autumn here is early. I have Azaleas which have had their Autumn "clothes" on for a good 3 weeks and so has my Euonymus Red Cascade. They normally would only be starting to colour about now. Already most of my huge trees are starting to colour and loose leaves which again seems earlier than normal. I hope this doesn't herald a hellish winter?:yikes:

Personally I tend to think what happens now, regarding flora and fauna, is mainly based on what has gone on before, rather than a prediction of the future. :)

@silu Interesting that you should mention Euonymus. I usually judge autumns arrival by the ones I have, which are Euonymus Alatus. To remember the date, I take a photo when they are at their reddest. In 2015 this was October 18th. Last year, August 22nd. So far this year, they have not started to change colour yet. So I cant answer the question yet.

@pete good question, I hope others will join in from different areas.
