Just before all the high winds recently I transplanted a clump of bamboo from my friends garden into a planter... It got knocked about something chronic during the the storms and now looks decidedly knackered! Is it going to recuperate or shall I just wait and see..? The clump was severed from a freely growing plant so I guess it could just be in shock!

Should be OK Loofah. All bamboo is pretty good when it comes to being knocked around. Just leave it and see. If the roots are OK it will recover.

Should be OK I have given lots away at different times of the year and all have survived.

My problem now is that 2 years ago it it flowered and it's looking very dead now, with one consolation there are a few seedlings about.

Bamboo is said to flower only once in about 100 years
A few years ago Murieliae flowered and all the plants died. The reason, of course, is that all the plants in the world had come from the same stock (when you flower just once in 100 years there is no fresh seed until you flower again)
I was able to collect some good seed and grow myself some fresh plants which will outlast me [IMG]
Now Nitida has flowered and a beautiful row of this fine bamboo has now died on me. It still looks good, but I will be collecting seed and trying to replace my plants
    Your seedlings are valuable Trevor

I have one seedling in a pot growing well the others are still around the mother plant. When the days warm up a bit I will try removing them to pots.
