    Hi, all

I've spent most of the summer clearing a wild and neglected area (around 15yds x 20yds) at the end of my garden. The idea is to sow a new lawn.

I blasted the area with weedkiller a few weeks ago, and it looks like most of the weeds are dead.

I am going to rotavate the area today. However, I have heard different opinions about what I should do after that.

One friend said I shouldn't sow the lawn seed until several weeks after rotavating, just to ensure the weeds don't come back up. Another friend said I should sow the lawn seed immediately after rotavating. And another friend said that I should do it all next Spring, because the weather now wasn't ideal to start sowing a new lawn.

    Any suggestions, please?

    Thanks.

I don't think you can win which ever way you do it. Some of the more difficult weeds are likely to re-shoot anyway. There will also be seeds left in the ground from the weeds that were growing this year and they will probably appear next spring. I would be inclined to go ahead and seed now to let the lawn establish over the winter months, then deal with any weeds that reappear next year. :)

I sowed my lawn last year at this time ( just pebbles when I moved in) but did not look much all winter and people telling me it was rubbish till this spring it soon filled out and looks amazing now so I would say sow it now too it will not look much till spring but when we start getting a bit of sun it will soon look like it's been there years
