Have I overdone the winter protection on my tree?

    Good afternoon all,
Apologies in advance as all I ever seem to do is seek advice about olive trees! So please bear with me!
So I’ve bought a fairly young very thin stemmed olive and put it in the ground this summer and it’s doing well. However where I live we are rural and we do get some nasty frosts. I decided to put some mulch down on the surface to protect the roots and I’ve bubble wrapped the stem. my question is do you think the tree will be ok with the stem covered in wrap? I am still learning and it has worked for me before on other young trees through winter. Hence my question. The wrap is not tight but tight enough to keep it supported around the tree.

    Thanks in advance.
    Paul

Unless we get an arctic winter I doubt it will need any protection at all, they are pretty hardy.

Only thing I would say is if its newly planted and an import it could be slightly tender this first winter.
Freezing winds are more likely to do daage rather than frost alone.

If you want to wrap it fleece would be better than plastic.

Or a couple of layers of fleece or other dry material, then the plastic taped at the top to keep moisture out?
