    Can any one tell me what the little green potatoe is please, the one you don't eat, some one asked me and i just can't remeber :old::please::scratch::help:

        They are the fruit of the Potato. They contain the seeds which if sown would produce new potato plants. Sadly the progeny would vary enormously and most if not all would be of little value.

          Good call Jif, its about time we did the annual "Don't eat em" thread :dbgrtmb:

          Like you say, they are poisonous.

          They produce seeds which will have crossed with any other potato variety in the area. If you were to grow them on, you'd probably have a mixture of all sorts of shapes & colours after a few years.

          Each one has the potential to become a new variety, BUT.... Don't be tempted to eat them, especially if you're pregnant. And definately not unless you have a big pack of loo roll, a loo and a bucket handy.

          New varieties need testing for Solanine content before being marketed. Even non green new varieties can contain too much.

            I went and seen some one and they were digging up there spuds and i notice them and said you can't eat them, they asked me why and my mind just went blank :rolleyespink::snooze:
