hawthorne in containers

    Hi,

    Can you grow hawthorn in a large garden planter?
    What depth would you suggest?

    Its not a very prestigious plant, are you sure that is what you want in your garden planter?

    Nice flowers in Spring ... but it grows in a rather straggly fashion :)

    I reckon it would grow in a minuscule crack in a rock face! so a planter will be fine. Plant it at the same depth it was originally. As with all such shrubby plants under no circumstances plant it "deep" as the bark is not conditioned to be under ground and that, more than anything else, is a likely cause of the death of such transplants.
