Well! Here they are. My first attempt at making sourdough hot cross buns. I had to try one whilst still warm. Crumb is light and fluffy. Thank you @Dovefromabove for the recipe. Really worked well.

Have they got lots of spice, I find any I buy these days to be a bit lacking on flavour.

Yes, @pete Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and all spice. I like them with plenty of cinnamon.

They are delicious - I tried one whilst it was warm then put the kettle on and had another!!

I have given half away to my young South African family. They appreciate a hot cross bun too when you're far from home.

                Morning all!!

Hot cross buns - cut in half and lightly grilled with butter! Yes, butter butter @pete and not spread or margarine!! A couple coming up to you @floralies Stick the net out!!

I used the the "home grown happiness" recipe @Dovefromabove Well explained. Easy to follow. Natural ingredients.

We are in for rough weather over the next two days so the Escale à Sète for the maritime festival may have to wait until Monday.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments!!

Morning all, a chilly bright start to the day. Thanks @Tui34 I will eat them later with my coffee!
We seem to have attracted a Hare into the garden! I hope he/she doesn't nibble too many plants, it rather likes the grass which we don't mind as the mower is still in being repaired!
I have seeds to sow this morning so will go and spend a pleasant time in the GH.

Those look great @Tui34 . Enjoy.

Mine had great texture but the flavour was a bit bland and the dough was too wet to roll into decent balls - PH's recipe with grated apple so maybe mine was bigger and/or juicier than his. Anyway, they rose and baked just fine but are irregular to say the least.

More spices needed when I do the chocolate chip version. He only uses cinnamon and it's not enough. They'll be fine split and toasted to have after our regular Saturday bacon egg and beans.
