    Hi All

My hedgehog , well lives in the garden under the slates that lean on to the fence deep in the corner of the garden , I filled with leaves in the Autumn and I had a feeling it had decided this wasnt a bad "des res" for the winter , had its first walkabout at 3.45pm its gone realy mild here this afternoon it looked a bit groggy as it strolled across the lawn to the bottom of the bird feeder and ate the small grains etc left on the grass from the birds feeding, I quietly poped out with some cat food put in the side border about 20 feet away and within 1 minute you could see it heading straight in that direction and its had a feed another wander and found a worm or two in my bark mulch which is protecting the dayliyl's but more confident then wanderd off in the direction of the bamboo and scrabled in to a huge pile of bamboo leaves and dry grass and has sort of closed up the entrance so in the end had decided my "des res" was not up to scratch !!!! and wanted to go Oriental instead !!!!

It was out for about 25 mins in all and didnt even know I was in the garden I was a bit worried its day time but it has deffo gone back to bed so I will put it down to being so mild.

Well that's certainly a nicer creature than the one I found today. While doing some clearing up in my black and white section I came across a red lily beetle just lying in wait......... I squashed the lousy booger!!

I rescued 2 Hegies from my sisters dog.. I lovingly carried them home along with cat food....Made a comfy box along side my compost heap.... They took off like ' bats out of hell ' rushing up the field as if I had personally shot at them....All I could see were sparks as they went

I haven't seen my Hedgehog this year as yet but I've got a feeling he/she is still snoozing at the back of the compost heap. I definitely haven't seen any Lily Beetles yet, that war has still to come. But a first for me is that although I have my pond over 20 years I have never had frogs or frog spawn in it. But I was sitting down there last week and saw a huge clump of spawn on the weed which I was planning to move, I guess I won't be doing that now!! But since I've got fish in the pond I might take half of the spawn out and put it in a large container with water from the water butts.
