Thought I would post this in case anyone is thinking about feeding Hedgehogs. These are super easy to make, cheap, keeps the food dry and will keep cats out :). You can add more bends to the entrance tunnel if you have a particularly dexterous cat. Also much easier to clean than the wooden ones and you can view the hog munching inside :blue thumb:

P1100442.JPG P1100440.JPG P1100441.JPG Thanks for the photos @luciusmaximus We just stand our bowls either outside the front door or now on the front lawn as they were making such a mess on the front door mat. They still poo though on the garden path, can't seem to train them to do it on the lawn.:snorky: Now that the meat is covered with mealworms we don't seem to have a problem with cats at the moment.

The apples are for the blackbirds that come each day and are busy eating them for themselves and then feed the mealworms I put out to their babies:biggrin: This hog seems to have picked up a tick(near its ear)as well somewhere along the line but as I can't get out yet I won't be able to catch the hog to remove the tick:sad:

Yes, they should all be up and about now and as Kandy has said making baby hedgehogs. Hibernation cycle is normally end of Oct till end of March, but it does depend on the weather. Its also normal for the hedgehogs to wake during the cycle and search for food. They also sometimes change hibernaculums. So, if you feed the hogs its a good idea to keep food out all winter for them and bowl of water. Kitten biscuits last longer then wet food but still need to be changed every other day and kept dry. A drop of glycerine in drinking water prevents it from freezing.
