    Hi,

I have some heleniums in pots and this is their second year. As you can see, they are healthy and flowering brilliantly. However, one of the plants - of which I have taken a close-up photo - spreads out from the centre, leaving a gap in the middle of the plant. This is particularly noticeable after wet or windy weather, when it's practically flattened! Is this purely down to weather or a sign of a problem with the plant?

    Thanks,

    Phil.

It's probably down to the weight of rain and wind. You could try tying some twine right round the plants just to give them support. Not pretty, but you could weave it in and out of the foliage to disguise it. :)
