    Hi Everyone,
I’m just a regular gardener (hobby) with a particular passion for Heleniums. I’ve started building a collection but there is still a lot of work to do.

Sadly it’s become difficult to locate many cultivars since Brexit plus the growing trend for dwarf perennials.

There are a number of cultivars I’m trying to track down through contacting nurseries, RHS, Plant Heritage etc but I am hoping that this amazing gardening community maybe able to help.

Cultivars I’m currently struggling to find include:
    • Helenium Fiesta
    • Helenium Goldlackzwerg
    • Helenium Goldriese
    • Helenium Baronin Linden
    • Helenium Patsy
    • Helenium Trehasor Red
    • Helenium Margot
    • Helenium Oldenburg
    • Helenium Red Halo
    • Helenium Crimson Beauty
    • Helenium Serenade
    • Helenium Kleiner Fuchs
    • Helenium Summer Circle
I’m currently at 56 cultivars and hoping to form a future national collection.

If anyone is able to help locate any of these cultivars or has any id love to know.

    Many thanks,
    Ed ❤️

The sad thing is that the chap who had the National collection seems to have retired from selling and now just organises the Plant Hunters Fairs. His Email address is from Contact Us
He may still be able to supply plants from his garden.

Good luck @Helenium Nut, I just started planting them a couple of years ago and love them, but had come to the conclusion there were only two or three different ones!

Ah yes Martin Blow, was very helpful. I've had a few cultivars from me but he doesn't really have many now since shutting down Special Perennials. I know quite a few of the above were on the market 10 years ago so hopefully they are still out there somewhere.

Yeah the usual two you see everywhere are Sahin's early Flowerer and Morheim Beauty. Thank you I think I will need some luck:biggrin:

      Hi

I have grown so many varieties over the years , but just don’t like my garden last about two years then just fade away , one year I had voles munch through the roots over winter.

wish you luck tracking them down which is the fun part.

let us know how you get on

      Spruce

You could perhaps try contacting The Hardy Plant Society
Hardy Plant Society - Hardy Plant Society

I think they had a National Collection but that was some years ago. They might be able to point you in the direction of some owners .

Edited to add that I have found Serenade on a German nursery site, but nothing in the UK I'm afraid.

Oh no, can't say I've had much problem with munching other than slugs and snails. I try to make sure they aren't crowded out until they get a couple of years and try to keep the crowns up slightly for winter but seem ok on my clay so far at least.

Thanks that's a good suggestion! Nottingham HPS are helping me kindly with one cultivar but I hadn't reached out in general.

There are some nice ones in europe just no where wants to do an individual phytosanitary certificate even if you offer to pay. Otherwise i'd be in the car on a european roadtrip pretty prompt :hapydancsmil:
