I have a hellebore called "argutifolius",and I wondered if I could cut out the old stems and flowers to leave the new growth. The flowers on the old stems still appear ok,but would it still be ok to cut them out.Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not an expert but with mine I cut the old stems down to ground level and leave the new stems. But I do usually wait untill the flowers have gone passed their best.

Any reason why you want to cut them back now?

Do you not want the seed? If not then I suppose you could cut back, as long as there is good new growth.
