Hi I have a very small helleborous (like about one leaf)in my greenhouse and I was wondering whether I could plant it out yet? Any thoughts? Thanks Stingo
I would get it outside to enjoy the weather - but leave planting it til there's another leaf - think slugs and snails. :D
Hellebores generally struggle in my garden, hang their heads and look sad. This year they have been great and so have the euphorbias. Terrific flowers and standing up bright and bonny! Perhaps it is because this winter was drier than usual and my soil didn't waterlog for once. Tree blossom has been fantastic too despite some severe and late frosts. Funny old game this gardening lark.
Hi Stngo, I would keep it in a pot outside for the summer, but be careful not to let it dry out completely. My Hellibores were a picture this year. These are a couple of photos I took earlier in the year..
I think they are very attractive flowers. I would like to get a few more kinds.. Have to find room 1st...!
Harvington shades of the night one of my favourites just started growing helebores in my garden last year.So easy to get hooked they are beautiful. This was taken Feb of this year when we had a bit of snow. She has got a bit big for the spot she is in, I would like to divide. When is the right time of year to do this please?
Scotkat Wow what a lovely flower, I would love one that colour. I'm not an expert but I don't think they like to be divided. Lets see if anyone else really knows. Stingo
MF and Scotkat, what beautiful flowers! Shame I can't grow them here! :( Scotkat, you can divide clumps in the Spring.
Beautiful Scotkat... One to get I think.... I did devide a clump Stingo, & it took about 2yrs before it had clumped back up & flowerering profusely.......
I bought a Helleborus last November and planted it outside just before it snowed. It hasn't stopped flowering since.
I would like to increase some of my helebores can anyone recommend a mail order supplier for helebores and hardy cyclamen please. Are there any flower graemlins or anything to do with gardening we can add to our posts.
They're not cheap, Scotkat, but I've always found their stuff good - try Crocus http://www.crocus.co.uk/search/results/?q=hellebore&x=0&y=0
