    Just thought I'd introduce myself
I've just moved to sunny West Sussex and am a chef so really only grow things I can eat.

    except the oak tree.

    and the lawn.

see you all in the 'edible' section!

What's wrong with eating the lawn pray? My best friend was a chef and he ate and ate until he exploded. Welcome to GC stickman. [IMG]

Hi, stickman, and welcome to GC. You won't see me much in the edible section!

But I know the oak tree well ... I live in a place called Carrasqueria which translates to "the place of the holm tree", ie, oak. Oak is also called Carvalho, which is the name of our long-tern (22+ years) friends here so have a lot of time for oaks. [IMG]

By the way, I haven't seen an oak here ... I live in the middle of orange/fruit orchards. :D

    Enjoy the forum.

Hi Stickman how exciting having a chef among us, I just bet in no time at all you will have us all drooling in the recipe section.... please be kind to us drool and electricity don't mix well

Just one question if I may are you really a 'stickman' or a chunky man? as I'm sure most cooks like to taste their own food well I know I do at least! [IMG]

Welcome and enjoy all the time spent here on GC.

    Thanks for the warm welcome

Helen, ask me that again at the end of december, I'll either be grossly overweight or sick of christmas pudding.

Eaten three portions tonight. feeling a little queasy.

I have two very good friends as chefs in England ...

... one worked for Stocks and The Bell in Aston Clinton in Bucks for a total of about 20 years and when they came for a meal to us he liked nothing better than down home country Southern (American) food ... Jambalya, etc.

The other is Portuguese and has a restaurant in Aylesbury and we've know him for about the same number of years ... he also likes home cooked food.

We have many chef friends here (Portuguese) ... they all like home-cooked food but not necessarily what they have to cook for their places of business ... we get together and have hamburgers and chillis and ...

    Hi Dee

    Hi Lady

I've worked with a few portugese chefs and love portugese food -lots of pork, beans, kale and funny looking (scabbard) fish. Mmmm yummy. Never been over there though.

Thinking of visiting Madeira early next year though.
