Just introducing myself. The weather is so awful that gardening is out of the question, but perusing mail order plant catalogues and searching for interesting topics online the only thing to do. I have a garden which is too large for me at age 71. I love to grow my own vegetables, particularly tomatoes and am determined this year to grow tasty ones. Last year I grew 6 different varieties. The tiny yellow cherry tomatoes were sweetest. I find that varieties like Alicante taste of nothing at all. Perhaps it is in the soil. I do not think grow bags help the flavour of tomatoes. Anyway, I would like views from other members on the tastyness of tomatoes these days. I have started a blog in the hope that people will post ideas on how to improve the flavour.

Hello, sylveen, and welcome to GC, and to be so brave to put such a nice introduction up!

There are lots of tomato growers here (not I, as they are too sweet and cheap to buy here off the vine) who can give you advice.

    Enjoy the site!
