    Hi
We have our first garden and over the last 6 months have been working hard trying to make in nice. So far we have got the majority done but need splashes of easy to manage colour. Any ideas? We are newbies but have had great enjoyment doing it , we even built our own shed from scratch!

      That's a fantastic transformation - well done.

Perhaps the easy route for splashes of colour instantly would be to dot some bedding plants around for this summer and then try and sift through the multitude of perennials and shrubs in a decent book, pick what you might like and then gradually buy and introduce them whilst the bedding plants are doing their bit :thumb:

Another good idea is to look in other peoples gardens or visit garden centres and nurseries regularly over a period of months to get a feel of what's in flower or looking good at different times of the year

Just a couple of ideas...good luck

Great advice from Bilbo, also this is the time of year for village/school fetes, so go and visit their plants stalls, they will sell cheap stuff that grows well in your location and usually the people have good knowledge too so pick their brains.
