    Well just got me a free 6x8 greenhouse. The house next door has been sold to a builder. So I asked him what his plans were for the greenhouse. He said ohh thats going to the dump. My lucky day so I said nooooo dont do that I wouldnt mind having it. So spent today taking out the glass, 3 or 4 panes broken (not by me). SO all I have to do now is lift the frame over the garden wall. I am so chuffed as I was looking to buy a new one.:thumb:
    I used to have one years ago but along came a little one and it had to go. So will have to brush up on my growing skills now.

    That sure was good luck! :thumb: So now you can put the saved money to buying seeds or young plants, etc. What do you plan on growing - flowers, veggies or both?
    Whatever, I wish you good luck and lots of fun and enjoyment.

    Welcome to GC as well, enjoy!

    [IMG] Veg... An apiarist, now that is interesting.. How long have you been keeping them. Do you have them in your garden or elswhere..? Very interested as our local council was prepared to set people up with a swarm, hive etc & back up for the 1st year then you are on your own ... They were absolutely over whelmed with applications & nowhere near enough swarms to accommodate everyone, so now there is a long list here... I know only a very little about them, but what I do know I find fascinating.. Got any photos.? Although they will be inside in the warm at present I am sure.. Good to have you aboard GC.. :thmb:

    I'll bet you anything that in a few months you are asking what to do with the excess plants you have grown :) I know I always go overboard.....I REALLY don't EVER need 50 tomatoe plants!

    Would love to see some pics of your hive set up - someone used to have them on our allotment - but apparently too many complaints from people (well they shouldn't have been going over and disturbing them should they?) and they were removed before we took over our allotment.

    I have 4 hives of my own and also look after our association bees.
    This is a you tube link of me and my dad (70yr old) picking up a swarm last summer.

    An out-of-town friend of ours has kept bees for years. He even makes the hives, was on TV once with it..... what straw/other materials he uses, how he cuts it and makes them, different shapes, etc.

    He has a honey extractor and sells some of the honey, with and without the combe.

    Like your video and see that you have very professional suits. Our friend just puts a hat with net on.

    Marley, that is very interesting that your council provides people with a "starter kit". I suppose the council gets so much of the honey and the beekeepers a share, too?

    Natalie - 50 tomato plants :hehe::hehe::hehe:

    Good luck with everything, VEG.

    Well I got the greenhouse from next door with a bit of help. Managed to get it over the wall without any mishaps (minus the glass). So will be putting it into its final resting place tommorow if weather permits.

    Sorry to say I was the one wearing boots as I had just got in from work. There was no way he was going up the ladder at 70 years old lol.

    Forgot to say I have now got the greenhouse up with most of the glass in. I am 5 panes of glass short due to them being broken before I moved it.
