    Hello everyone!

Got a nice quick question to break the ice with :-D

I'm doing up my front yard and will be putting some black slate chips down eventually. I don't want. These to go over the path to the gate. Currently the whole yard is concrete.

What options do I have to hold the slate back as most edging I've seen is made for going into turf/soil?!

    Welcome to GC @Vinnydude :sign0016:

I would say your best bet is one of the stone/concrete style edging that are available at the likes of Wickes etc. Probably be best to cut a channel into your existing concrete to set the edging into with fresh cement mix to hold them in.

I thought there would be some right-angled blocks or something where the weight of the slate or what ever you put down would be more than enough to keep it in place. I can't find anything like that though :-/

I've not seen anything like that - I'd imagine you would need a fair old depth of slate to weigh down any edging that was not fixed in place somehow.

It only needs to be two meters long so it's not a huge length. What about getting a quarter segment of log?! I don't even know where I'd look for something like that! Lol

The cellar is most underneath where the edging would be going so I'd really rather not risk causing any leaks with cutting a channel into the concrete.
