Hi Everyone. I've recently joined your site and am finding it very useful and informative.
I'm an under gardener on a Gloucestershire estate but by no means does that mean I'm all that knowledgable.
I am leaving my job in September to go into full time education, studying at rhs Wisley. So I'm keen to learn from you and pick up any tips.
    So be gentle!

[IMG] Have you got any projects running for the summer on the estate, before you go to Wisley? What sort of plants do you like & what aspects of gardening interest you most? Have you considered specializing in any particular field of Horticulture? Must be quite an exciting time for you at the moment.. [IMG]

    Hiya Marley Farley,
Yeah, it is an exciting time for me at the moment, particularly at work. All the borders on the Estates Mansion are being designed so it really fun to be involved in.
I love all plants when they're planted in the right setting but I especially like woodland looking plants such as Dicentras, anemones, crocus, brunnera etc.
I'm really interested in the botanical side of gardening and how plants function within, but I'm not sure if I'll go into a specific field as I enjoy all parts of gardening - but we'll see !

[IMG] This time of year is fun & hardwork really. I love planting up borders. To stand back & see everything neatly planted & then return later to see the profusion of flowers & colour, very rewarding. [IMG] Even better on the estate as your governed by a schedule I'm sure, but you can then hear the comments of the public & see people enjoying you work!! ;) You have planty of time to decide if you want to specialise in anything, but the botanic side is fascinating I do have to say.. I also like the type of plants you have mentioned. I really want to get hold of some Autumn crocus or Colchicum autumnale they are beautiful I think... You have just reminded me...!
Well enjoy your summer.. Post some photos of your handywork on the flowerbeds, now, & then later in the summer... You will have to keep us informed on how Wisley is going too [IMG]

The garden I work at is a private one and isn't open to the public. It is surrounded by Batsford Arboretum though - thats open to the public.I work on the gardens of the Manor house which sits in the grounds of the arboretum.
