Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum and looking forward to getting to know you all, and learning from all your hints and tips. I'm not a new gardener, but I'm starting a new kitchen garden this year, growing in raised beds. I'm very excited about it, and was looking forward to making some kind of a planting start this week - but the weather is awful - cold, wet and windy. Oh well, there's always next week. Maybe by then I'll have found my way around the forum and worked out how to post pics etc.

It's pretty yucky over this side to, Alice....just cme in from walking the dogs for 2 hours - grey, wet, blustery, but not incredibly cold, thank goodness!

Welcome to GC, nice to have yet another Scot on board! :D

Hi Alice and welcome. It looks like we are all going to get winter again over the next few days - including snow - so I shall be putting off any planting until it gets a bit warmer again.

    Hi Alice and welcome

Posting pictures in the forum, is done through an image sharing web site like photobucket or image shack.

There are instructions in the forum - but let me know if you need any help.

Hi Alice and welcome from another newbie.

At least raised beds should help your soil get warm and dry enough to plant more quickly, from what i've read. I've started to sow some stuff outside (also in raised beds), but have cloches over it - partly for warmth and partly to keep the neighbourhood cats out! - but then I expect we southern softies have it much warmer than you, and it's also possible I've started way too early!
