Hi, I'm Lisa and I thought that I would join as myself and my partner have just got back into wanting to grow vegetables etc. I did a little growing a few years ago, flower wise I grew really big Sunflowers which I liked a lot, on the eatable side of things I grew (chillies, radishes etc) and my partner has done a few things as well. But we are currently trying to grow potatoes in two containers in our garden. We don't really know what we're doing with growing potatoes, we have watched a lot of videos on YouTube, read a lot online. And something is growing in our containers, we're just hoping that there's potatoes growing under the soil. We do want to grow more, though it might be a little late this year.

    But hi anyway.

      Big welcome.

Growing potatoes in containers is OK, but if you can follow much the same method as growing in the open ground. The results may be better. Basically. Plant the seed potato low down in the container. Then as the plant, the hulm grows, add compost, obviously don't bury the seed. When the plant has attained it's fullness, wait until the growth begins to wilt. The new spuds are now ready for lifting. Premature lifting will provide you with small under developed spud and very little flavour. Feeding IMO is optional.

As I cannot dig I grow only in containers. but rather than compost. I use hay or grass cuttings with good results. Same method; cover most of the green growth as it comes on.
