Hi folks, am very much a beginner gardener, so may be posting some very stupid questions!

I have a small garden by the beach in Southern Brazil. Sub tropical climate - we have a cool (relative to the rest of Brazil) winter here of around 3 months; garden gets lots of salt from the sea and also suffers from a very strong south wind every now and then.

Very pleased to have banana trees, hibiscus, bird of paradise, and lots of other lovely things that I couldn't possibly name.

Look forward to seeing you in the forum,
    EGIB

    0) Olá EGB minha amiga e bem-vindo.

I live in a similar climate to you but am not near the sea (20 minutes inland in Central Algarve in the middle of orange groves) so don't have the salt problems many of my friends on the West Coast here do. I planted my first shrubs here in 1989 at my apartment by the coast actually but seriously got into gardening in 1997 and am interested in tropical / sub-tropical plants and shrubs. I'll be happy to help if I can .. but no guarantees there ...

    Tchau e divertir-se o forum.

    Hi and welcome from US.

Can't wait to see pictures of your beauties there in Brazil, especially the "bird of paradise". Do they come in different colors?
