Hi everyone. I'm from Lancashire and have just returned to outdoor gardening, now I've got a garden to use again. It's a bit of a tip at the moment, as we've had to remove (what felt like) thousands of brambles and are just mopping up the stragglers that are starting to regrow. We've just built a greenhouse, although I'm not completely happy with this as it's for my house mate's carnivorous plant collection and, when finished, will be far too hot and humid for my plants. As it's not finished yet though, I've been filling it with seed trays and planting everything in pots and tubs until the rest of the garden is ready for them.

If anyone wants to know more, please feel free to ask and if you've any ideas for food plants that can be grown in a hot and humid environment, please let me know so I can claim some of the greenhouse space.

Hello and welcome to the forum Turnip :)

Cucumbers love hot and humid. I grow the all female F1 mini cucumbers, at our local GC a reasonable sized plant is 99p, get a couple and plant them in early June in good compost and they will romp away.
