I love that this site is described as the Friendly Gardening Forum.

I'm not totally new to gardening but have spent more time wondering why my efforts don't turn out like they should. I'm the same with baking; the end result doesn't look like the picture I'm lucky to have a diverse garden that was low maintenance but over the years I've been moving towards making it more productive. It's on a slope, clay and south facing. I'm looking forward to learning and contributing where I can.

Hello Zilly, I used to live in the Wolds so I remember a bit of Louth too. That's a lovely part of Lincolnshire.

I'm further south on the Notts border.

Parts of Lincolnshire are lovely, many small market towns are charming and still have the feel of 30 plus odd years ago. The downside for me was the awful long and cold winters.

I come from the less than lovely market town of Boston, no trees, flat, full of brassicas and the sea wall was the highest thing between there and Siberia.

Boston used to have a smashing market. We used to call it cabbage land:biggrin:.

Isn't Boston classed as Fenland with amazing drainage and anything grows? Does it have the lovely black fen soil similar to the Deepings and Wisbech (Cambs)?

Thank you all for the welcomes ️:hapflowers2: I was looking for a wildflower or dog rose emoji and that rosette one was the closest I could find which hasn't gone into my reply I've noticed! I'll get used to the site I promise.

The market was good last time, I was there around 1995. They used to run coach trips from Nottinham and Leicester to the market.
Yes it does, although a lot of the area is below sea level these days as the peat has eroded. Most of the good land lies along the A17 A16, some very well off families around there.
