    Hello All!

    I'm a recent member of the gardening community (if you can call it gardening when you live in a flat without access to a garden).

    Recently moved into a flat on my own and decided to get some house plants to keep me company.

    Already got a couple of little fellas (an Aloe, snake plant, Hypoestes, and a spider plant) and hoping to expand from there.

        Hi @EarlNeonCog ,

        First of all welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016;

        I'm in the same position as you as regards to where I live , an 8th floor flat ( you will find me posting garden pics aswell though as I look after my moms garden )..However, don't let that stop you from enjoying the world of plants, and don't think everything has to be green !

        You'll find many variegations in leaf colour and also many flowerimg plants from the normal to the highly unusual.
        Given time you'll probably find yourself hooked on certain species, i have about 10 of the Maranta/Ctenanthe family which is probably something you should seek out as they don't need bright sunny windows, and so can live in a shady corner of a room.

        If you need any advice or have anny questions don't hesitate to ask, you'll always get an answer.

        Good Luck in plant hunting and welcome :)

              @Upsydaisy thank you!

              Glad to hear I'm accepted as a bona fide gardner! :)

              My mum nearly lost the plot when I told her I was thinking of getting some houseplants and getting into gardening. I think

                @KFF

                Thanks for the warm welcome!

                Yeah, I'm 4th floor. I think my biggest issue s going to be light. I only have two windows but thankfully they're both south east facing so both get at least some light despite the other buildings..

                Oh I'm definitely not worrying about everything having to be green. One of my favourites of my little gang (alongside Monty my snake plant) at the moment is my Hypoestes which has beautiful red dappled leaves.

                My only concern at the moment is not overwatering them. I keep worrying that they need more water than they do.

                  @lolimac

                  Yeah, I'm already eyeing up other plants. I want to get a baby Monstera to grow, but I think I'll leave it at that for the time being, if only to make sure I am actually capable of not killing them all haha

                  Thanks for the recommendation, I'll certainly look him up!

                        @Marley Farley

                        Many thanks! I suspect I'm going to end up with both my windows full and any corner I have spare.

                        Still eyeing up a baby monstera from online that, sensibly speaking, I shouldn't buy, but I really want. haha

                            @Upsydaisy

                            Hey, hey ... I'm trying to behave here

                            It's not like I'm sitting here in my office staring at a tiny monstera (6cm pot) on Perfect Plants and trying to work out whether I can justify it when I know I'm barely ever home during the week to accept parcels.

                            It isn't even the cost anymore ... Just the delivery (I don't really want to end up in a situation where it's boxed up longer than necessary) :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
