I have been a Gardener for 30 odd years and in that time have had an allotment or two. Now I am self employed I do not have much allotment time so had to give them up. I now garden on Clay soil I hate clay soil but the house I have is near a great Birdwatching area so I had to compromise. LOL.

I actually went to Otley college in 1984/5 to become a professional Gardener but after the YTS scheme my parents refused to help me with college fees so I went into factory work.

I am now a freelance writer, teacher and Photographer.
I have a degree in Cecidology and Plant diseases which I did as an open university course.

Cecidology is the study of plant galls .

Well I hope I can at least help in some way and get some advice too, especially about roses in clay soil.
    Well thats all folks.

Plant Galls do not kill or affect a plant in any way. they use it as a host. to protect the larvae from predators. the galls are parasatised by other gall wasps. Common Galls are Robin's Pincushion and Oak Apples, not forgetting Spangle Galls on Oak Leaves. Some Galls are local to certain parts of the UK like the Viola gall which is mainly found in East Anglia. please feel free to ask or send pics for identification and that also includes any Fungi. I can id and answer most wildlife queries too. usually I need a photograph to id most things.
