    Hey everybody!

I am genuinely so thrilled to be here. My lovely but not so garden loving urban dwelling friends have been driven up the wall like ivy as I post garden updates to them. Feels like I may have found a safe place :)

I recently moved into my childhood home and fallen in love with gardening again. With a glorious south facing garden guarded at the end by my oldest friend. A 280 yo handsome prince of an Oak tree. Yep it's older than Australia!

My dear late dad loved gardening and I tagged along behind him as a child.. Digging out weeds while he patiently contended with my endless nattering. Not until now have I fully appreciated all the beautiful hybrid tea roses and floribunda he tended so carefully. After he passed away my dear mum wasn't able to keep up with it. She moved into a flat and my young family now back in. And this spring the start of a slow and tender nurture back to what it was and more. I love it!

First bit of help if I may. I cannot believe my luck but my rose cuttings have taken really well!

Now one has a bud forming.. And as I lost the bit of masking tape I used to help me remember what it was I am tempted to let it reveal itself and blossom.

But then I think maybe I should nip it to allow the energy to go into forming strong roots to take outside and save the mystery until the carefree summer of 2021 that we all hope for.

    What do you think?

Behind the fuschia cutting also taken soooo well.. The leaves are sooo soft

Whilst i get the reason to suggest nipping the rose bud off i personally would just have to let it open..
It's a bonny looking plant, and it'll still do well I'm sure.
One little bud deserves it's moment in the sun!
Well done with your propagation it all looks fine.

Welcome to Gardeners Corner Anx. :) You paint a lovely picture of your surroundings and journey with your dad, his green fingers having been handed down to you.

I agree with JR, the rose looks healthy so why not let it bloom. :)

Hey Jr, thanks for the advice :) I'll add a pic when it blooms.

Thank you Sheal too! What a lovely welcome :)

I hope to get it up to par to show a pic on here soon. In the meantime, just one more sleep to Monty Don and GW!
