Hello from the sunny midlands

Hi all

Just wanted to introduce myself.

Myself and hubby and lads - plus mad collie dog moved into our house a year ago. It was a massive project - the house was in an awful state after a 94 year old had lived there since building it in 1974 - hasten to add - nothing had been done since!! So we have completely gutted the house and extended it - it has been one of the hardest and stressful years ever - but am pleased to say that we love it. It sits on an acre and a quarter, with open fields to one side, and the other side has the back gardens of a row of houses backing onto ours. The garden is mainly very overgrown trees that have been left to their own devices! We have managed to rescue approx 2/3 of the garden lawn - after it was was home to 3 sheep (live lawn mowers) and lots of fences have been removed to make mowing easier. The house is in one corner of the plot and the small front garden is north facing - we have a longish drive and you approach the house side on! We have re-done the drive and have a large parking area with an old workshop (very useful but a real mess after all the work) We also have a very old tatty large shed that we are storing wood in and also garden furniture. The back garden has a large bank of trees to the left that provide privacy from the back of the houses that flank one side of garden. I am intending to have a small veg plot area (raised beds) with a greenhouse that we have taken down and will resite with a few repairs. This will be around the side of the garden that we cannot see from the house. also composting area.

We have 6 chickens now - and they will have to permanently sited somewhere near to the veg plot.

There are no plants in the garden really - mainly trees so we have alot of work to do - on a fairly tight budget as we have used all our cash doing the house.

I will put some photos up so you can see what will be occupying every spare minute!!

Hoping that you lovely people will be able to inspire me and fill me with the knowledge that i will need to get going! i am excited and a wee bit scared as it is a huge project!!
