Hello to all, a complete newbie here although I signed on some time back I did not get a chance to start my gardening adventure until a few months ago. I came to Ireland from Lincolnshire about 10 years ago with the best intentions to take it easy. The only thing I can tell you is the grass is greener. I managed to get a tunnel up last year, fencing, paths, lawn and some stone work. My wife loves the flower side of things she has grown a fantastic meadow/cottage garden and I am trying my hand at veg.

Welcome - the West coast is the only place we have been to in Ireland. We were amazed by how long the miles were when we were travelling:)

Thankyou all for the very warm welcome, hello Nick I also live in Mayo not in Westport but I can see Croagh Patrick from our house. Hello Fmay yes a country mile here is something else. I have to say I am trying to follow country life here and starting to live of the land. I fish the sea from the beach and rocks sometimes out on a boat when the offer comes my way. I shoot for all my local farmers who are only to happy to see me, I eat what I shoot and control vermin. This year adding attempting to grow my own veg I also have to admit I really enjoy digging, sorry I am starting to on abit now.

    Russ.

Hello to west coast Ireland. If I can figure out how to load pictures here I would send you pictures of my heath and heather slope, I am proud of. You have them over there don't you?

    Welcome to the garden.
